A fresh wave of design.
When our studio was tasked with developing a new design language for Clarion Marine, the goal was to completely modernize the brand’s identity while addressing the punishing environmental demands of boating. We approached the CMM source units and matching speaker line as a unified ecosystem, moving away from fragmented, legacy marine aesthetics toward a clean, technical form language. For the source unit, we focused on ergonomics tailored for wet, high-motion environments. The layout utilizes a central display flanked by oversized side bumpers to protect from impact, paired with high-tactile controls and a prominent rotary dial for effortless adjustment in rough waters. This rugged front-panel design establishes a premium yet utilitarian centerpiece that naturally fits into modern marine aesthetics.
We extended this new visual DNA directly into the speaker lines ensuring the hardware feels integrated into the vessel's hull. The grille geometries reject traditional, fragile speaker mesh in favor of an aggressively sculpted, multi-spoke bridge architecture that physically shields the internal drivers from direct impact. Concentrating on clean geometric intersections and consistent material finishes across both the electronics and the speaker allowed our team to deliver a cohesive, premium brand language that successfully transitions Clarion Marine into a contemporary era of durability and style.
